SALVIA forskaohlei - 3' - £4.60Large hairy basal leaves from which rise the stems carrying purplish blue flowers with a white throat. Perennial. Needs sun.
SALVIA microphylla var. microphylla - 3'6" - £4.60Blackcurrant scented foliage, flowers of a crushed raspberry shade from mid-summer to the frosts. Sunny well drained conditions, can be cut to the ground by frost but sprouts from the base.
SALVIA uliginosa - 4' - £4.80Skyblue flowers in Autumn make this plant worth giving some care. Needs fertile not too dry soil and may need some protection in cold areas.
SANGUINARIA canadensis - 5' - £4.60Tall white spikes in late summer. Lovely autumn colour on the foliage and flower spikes.
SANGUISORBA menziesii - 3' - £4.60Deep maroon-red bottle brushes above glaucous foliage.
SANGUISORBA obtusa - 3' 6" - £4.60Grey pinnate foliage, large bottle brush flowers of a beautiful deep pink.

SCHIZOSTYLUS coccinea 'Wilfred H Bryant' - 16" - £4.60The palest of pink flowers in autumn. Narrow grassy foliage all year. Previously sold as 'Pink Princess'.
SCOPOLIA carniolica - 16" - £5.00This was collected by Will McLewin in Yugoslavia. The flowers are yellow inside, brownish purple on the outside. Needs moist semi shade and creeps by fleshy rhizomes. Flowers in April.
SCROPHULARIA auriculata 'Variegata' - 3' - £4.60Marvellous evergreen foliage splashed with cream. Semi-shade. Flowers best removed.
SEDUM 'Autumn Joy' - 2' - £4.50Bronzy pink flowers in much bigger heads than S. spectabile.

SIDALCEA 'Elsie Heugh' - 3' - £4.40These are very useful plants flowering in August and elegantly upright. This form has rose-pink coloured flowers.
SIDALCEA candida - 3' - £4.40Good spikes of white flowers in summer. Rather like a small Hollyhock.
SILENE dioica 'Clifford Moor' - 1' - £4.60Cream edge to the dark green leaves. Deep pink single flowers. Found by a local herb nursery. Plant Breeders rights applied for. Propagation is illegal.
SILENE fimbriata - 2' - £4.50Like the common white campion but the flowers have fringed petals and are backed by large baggy calyces. Much admired in late May.
SISYRINCHIUM striatum - 18" - £4.30Iris like leaves, spires of cream flowers. Needs good drainage.

SPIRANTHES cerna odorata 'Chadd's Ford' - 18" - £4.90Spiralling spikes of heavily scented white orchid-like flowers in October. Vigorous and will sucker. Needs reasonably fertile conditions.
STACHYS byzantina 'Silver Carpet' - 9" - £4.40Excellent silver ground cover without the sometimes dingey spikes of flowers. STACHYS macrantha 2' £4.50 Large dark green leaves and whorls of pinky- mauve flowers make this old fashioned cottage plant useful as ground cover.
STACHYS byzantina 'Primrose Heron' - £4.50This form has yellow leaves in spring fading to grey by Autumn. The usual mauve flowers. PBR.
STACHYS monieri 'Hummelo' - 18" - £4.50Pretty rose pink flower spikes above crinkly foliage from early summer until autumn.
STOKESIA laevis 'Mary Gregory' - 1' - £4.50A new form with surprising deep yellow flowers in late summer. The daisy flowers are also unusually large.

STROBILANTHES attenuata - 1' - £4.60We are delighted that Wisley has been able to name this excellent low spreading plant. Blue flowers in autumn, very similar to S.atropurpurea.
STROBILANTHES wallichii - 3' - £4.50Syn. S.atropurpureum. The leaves have a violet hue and the violet-blue flowers in September.Best in sun. Spoilt by late frost but always recovers.
STROBLANTHES nutans - 2'6" - £4.70Similar to S.attenuata but with large clusters of drooping trumpet shaped white flowers in autumn. Needs sun and good drainage.
SYMPHYANDRA 'Paul Furse' - 2' - £4.50Long bells of soft blue on a running plant. A surprise in that it Flowers in autumn when most Campanulas are over. Peter Lewis says this is not a Campanula- hence the change of name.
SYMPHYTUM ibericum (grandiflorum) - 1' - £4.40Dark hairy leaves, orange tipped cream bells in spring, grows in any soil, spreading. Evergreen.
