Wednesday 14th September – Collecting and Preparing Seeds
Join Vanessa Cook in the garden in this practical course where you will learn how to collect seeds from the many herbaceous plants in the gardens. You will also find out which seeds need sowing straight away and which ones need to be stored for next spring. You will package up some seeds yourself to take home and plant in your own garden
This will be followed by a talk about preparing seeds for sowing, including a guide to which seeds require the cold before germination will take place.
Collecting seeds from your own plants is a sustainable way to increase the number of your own plants and to share them with friends. It fits in with our ethos of gardening for wildlife as there are always plenty of seeds left over for the birds.
