The wide grass path dividing the double borders is planted with sixteen Fagus sylvatica 'Dawyck Gold' and bands of grass are planted with Crocus 'Violet Queen'  the grass in these areas is left longer throughout the year. The borders are edged with stone, giving a formality to the avenue.
