Wildlife Day 2014
The sun finally came out on the Wildlife Day. We had some brilliant experts and plenty of visitors. The bird ringers who have their demonstration in front of the cafe proved very popular as usual. All the visitors love seeing the birds up close and finding out how the record-keeping helps protect birds.
We also received some lovely comments, here’s a couple:
“Thanks so much for a great day. I have posted a note to this effect on your page but I just wanted to add a personal message. I can imagine organising days like this take a huge effort but from our point of view it was more than worth coming over from Barnsley. Our 10 year old particularly was totally absorbed all day and we really appreciated the time and enthusiasm show to him by the experts. Please continue to have days like these and inspire the young people.”
“I felt I must email and say what a fantastic day we had today at your wildlife event. We have visited the garden before (which is beautiful and looked amazing today as always), but the activities and events going on today made it a truly memorable experience. My children (aged 8 and 6) were enthralled, particularly enjoying the bug safari and bird ringing, but I must say that everything was really enjoyable and the level of expertise shown by the experts was truly inspiring – they were all very enthusiastic and approachable and I thought it was a real privelege to have the opportunity to learn from them. I really hope that this event goes from strength to strength, I know my own children came away feeling excited and inspired to get involved with nature, and I’m sure many others did too. The food was also excellent!”
