A sketchbook tells the story of a day’s painting, a reminder of more than just a single moment, but how things change over time and your thoughts and responses to it.
This new full day art course is about arranging and compiling sketchbook pages in pencil, ink and watercolour. We will be painting small location scenes in the gardens, surrounded by extra discovered details and notes. As well as the plants, trees, pond and meadow, there is the opportunity to sketch the resident chickens, doves, guinea fowl and other animal life to animate your sketchbook pages. Peter will focus on getting the drawing down quickly, and offer advice on what makes a lightweight, ergonomic and ‘sketcher friendly’ field kit.
Time: 10:00 to 16:00. Cost: £45.00 (Please bring a packed lunch.)
Regular visitors to the garden will have seen Peter’s paintings exhibited in the Cafe over the last few years. He is an award winning artist and book illustrator with over 40 solo books published worldwide by major publishing houses. He has exhibited in many venues around the country and has paintings in several public collections. Peter has painted outdoors in varied locations, from heat of Africa to the snows of Canada. He currently runs successful weekly watercolour classes at two venues.
