Stillingfleet Lodge Gardens York Contact info@stillingfleetlodgenurseries.co.uk or ring 01904 728506 Explore Stillingfleet Lodge Gardens Stillingfleet Lodge was bought in 1975; it was an unloved farmhouse that had been empty for over a year. There was very little garden, mainly a vegetable plot with no shrubs or trees. The remaining three acres was grassland. Since that time, with much hard work, passion and inspirational planting the area has been transformed into a truly beautiful and magical garden for you to explore and absorb. While Stillingfleet Lodge remains a very much loved family home and garden, it justly deserves its growing international reputation. Surrounding the house are individual colour themed cottage gardens that have been planted with care and enthusiasm. The wonderful cottage gardens have been planted for ease of maintenance, scent and colour.  The Avenue is 60 foot double herbaceous border and is a fantastic example of formal planting to add structure. A woodland walk leads to the pond, which is planted for natural effect and then leads to a wildflower meadow.  The wildlife pond was dug and as the garden is organic the pond and meadow support a large number of birds and insect life as well the owner’s bees.  The garden is home to several varieties of rare poultry  and is full of birds and butterflies. In contrast, the wonderful rill garden is now established, and you can admire and enjoy a modern peaceful water garden which is very different from the rest of the gardens. You can enjoy the tranquillity from one of the many seats situated around this beautiful garden to enjoy the views and enjoy some quiet contemplation. Your visit will be very much enhanced by coffee and one of the homemade cakes available in the Cafe and a look around the nursery, which stocks many of the plants you will see in the garden. Each year we organise some wonderful workshops including Poultry Keeping, Willow Weaving, Watercolour Painting and various crafts and horticulture with some renowned course leaders.
